The Weston Family Foundation is dedicated to catalyzing and scaling science-based approaches that significantly improve the health and well-being of Canadians. By taking a leadership role in tackling critical health challenges that are often under-addressed, the Foundation supports research that empowers Canadians to live healthier lives.
Currently the Foundation focuses on three microbiome research priorities:
1. Brain Health: Exploring novel therapies and prevention strategies leveraging the microbiome to improve cognitive function and resilience.
2. Immunity: Improving immune function and disease resistance through improved microbiome health.
3. Diet and Nutrition: Leveraging the microbiome to maximize the health benefits of diet and nutrition.
The Microbiome Initiative was established in 2017, has funded over 120 projects, and has donated $70M to further microbiome research.Ā
