“We aim to develop a comprehensive education and training program including workshops, online educational resources, mentoring program providing cutting-edge microbiome research education to Canadian scientists, clinician scientists, and trainees.”

What We Offer

IMPACTT Mentorship Program

The IMPACTT Mentorship Program aims to support and advance the research careers of Senior Postdoctoral Fellows with at least three years of experience, scientists with other titles such as Research Associates who may not have an independent lab yet, and Early Career Researchers within the first three years of their first faculty appointment at a Canadian academic institution.

Workshops and Training

Gnotobiotic Workshop: a two day hands-on animal research workshop for researchers who want to learn how to conduct gnotobiotic and germ-free animal experiments.

Bioinformatics Workshop: a three day in-person workshop for researchers working with or about to embark on the analysis of marker gene, metagenomic, and/or metatranscriptomic data from microbiome-focused experiments. This workshop was previously run by the Canadian Bioinformatics Workshops.

Resources for Clinician-Scientist Trainees

CITAC: If you’re a clinician scientist or trainee, IMPACTT has partnered with the Clinician-Investigator Trainee Association of Canada (CITAC) to provide access to training and mentorship within the Canadian microbiome research community.

Teaching Medicine: IMPACTT has also partnered with TeachingMedicine.com to develop microbiome health modules for clinician trainees that will be available open-access to all Canadian medical students. Stay tuned!
